winter
Since 1864 the Lake House has been the beacon that has shone through the North Woods for Loggers, Sportsman, and Adventures alike! This has always been the place where folks in need can get help in an emergency. There are no "CELL PHONE" services in the area. We maintain three separate forms of communications with the outside world.

Over the past decade our door has been knocked on at all hours of the day and night for any reason you can imagine. From small cuts, broken legs, missing canoers/snowmobilers and much more. We take pride in our great working relationship with all of the emergency services, US Boarder Patrol, Maine State Police, Maine Game Warden's, Life Flight and the Piscataquis Sheriff's Department, just to name a few.

In 2008, Homeland security sent additional funding to the Piscataquis County Sheriff's department to increase patrols in our area. The Canadian border is just 45 miles west of here. It sure is nice to come home and find a "sheriff's property check card" in your front door while you where away.

One of the Sheriff's new remote area patrol trucks. Two spare tires for up here!

So, if you you find yourself in a jam, stop in and we'll do our very best to help you out 365 - 24/7, we live here. Stop by anyway and say HI MOM! in front of the web cam, let her know your OK up here in the wilderness. Just tell mom when you'll be there (day and time), you wouldn't want her to worry now, would you?
